Original film posters, UK Quads, One sheets and international formats, generally form the backbone of our Movie Memorabilia collectables auctions, being bought as pieces of art, as well as by fans of particular films, actors and directors. Over the years, Excalibur Auctions has sold some spectacular movie posters from all kinds of genres, including Harry Potter, James Bond, Walt Disney and Marvel. We’re one of the foremost Star Wars Poster Auctions, achieving great success with all Star Wars posters, especially the Pre-Oscars UK Quad film poster for the original film 'Star Wars: A New Hope'
A growing area of collecting is in the smaller format film memorabilia, such as movie stills and lobby card sets. Many collectors like these as they are often more affordable and easier to display due to their smaller size. Some rare sets, for James Bond, Star Wars, Horror and Science Fiction films are very sought after, and we're always pleased to offer them for sale in a memorabilia auction.
In March 2021, we were honoured to bring to auction the extensive private collection of memorabilia from deceased film producer Elliott Kastner
Amongst all the film scripts, contracts, photographs, movie posters and artwork were such gems as Where Eagles Dare concept artwork, a signed Marlon Brando contract and a large selection of signed Christmas cards and invitations from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joan Collins, Roger Moore and Peter Sellers.
More recently, we sold Harrison Ford's personal script (Fourth Draft of Star Wars Episode 1), which was found in the rubbish bin after he moved out of a rented flat!
Other items of note have been a handmade scrapbook compiled by Roger Moore for Tony Curtis; a large selection of memorabilia items from a film sound engineer, including items from 'Band of Brothers', 'James Bond: Tomorrow Never Dies', personal letters, candid photographs and correspondence from film producers and other film production staff; and synopses and other production information from 'The Avengers' - 1965 television series.
