One of these, which could also be named as the most impressive result of the day, was Lot #630 – the first pressing album from The Who titled “My Generation”. The album was an original issue mono LP record on the Brunswick label, signed by the four band members. Having been independently checked and approved for authenticity, Excalibur Auctions knew it would be competing for star lot yet were astonished to witness it sell for over 13 times its estimate at a staggering £11,000!
Another musical highlight of the day was the UK Quad Concert Poster for a line up at the Electric Ballroom Camden, headlined by The Specials in July 1979 and including Madness, Dexys Midnight Runners and The Selector. This sale was also a resounding success, as it reached 10 times the amount it was predicted to sell for, reaching a £700 hammer price.
On the movie side of things, Harry Potter collectors added that extra bit of magic to the auction, as the official Ollivanders Wand Boxes (as seen in the Harry Potter films) sold for a spell-binding £500-£620! These were consigned by members of the film crews and attendees of the Philosopher’s Stone Premiere in 2001, as every person at the event received a wand box as a token of attendance.
A huge thank you goes to our fabulous team, as well as all buyers and sellers who enabled us to have such a fantastic day.
The next memorabilia sale will be in March 2021, which we are already consigning items for. Our next sale is our Vintage Toys and Modern Railways auction on Saturday 21st November – see you there!
